I rather enjoyed John Maus’s Pitchfork Guest List interview. It’s utterly incomprehensible and incredibly try hard - but very entertaining? People throw the word “pretentious” around like it’s the worst thing in the world but I really wouldn’t mind a few more interviews being this weird. It’s better than the rote answers one usually gets about these things. Maus is in that special category of people who’ve made records I really like that I don’t think I could possibly hold a conversation with. See also: Morrissey, Isaac Brock, Paul Banks.
